Pop goes the Weasel and the Weasel goes…..Pop Culture?

As you can see, the title of this post is a wee bit apprehensive. I think this is because as much as I embrace my pop culture tendencies, I am also a little bit scared of them. I have always been able to name ridiculous facts at the drop of a hat. It’s completely ludicrous that I can name the order of model banishment from Cycle 7 of America’s Next Top Model (proceedingly to be called ANTM on Big Daddy Seashell forever more!), and not name the US presidents. Of course I can name the prezzes since I’ve been alive: (I forgot President Ford, but in my defense I was a baby during his term!) Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton & Bush Jr. But if I had to name all of the prezzes, I would be at a loss. And if I had to name the ones I actually VOTED FOR, that’s a whole different ball game. But, I can tell you this about ANTM cycle 7: Christian, Megan, Monique, Megg, A.J., Brooke, Anchal, Jaeda, Michelle, Amanda, and Melrose. That’s right bitches, I love me some ANTM! Don’t even get me started on this Cycle: 8 or as we call it in our house, “The Ocho”.
JasleneThat’s right! In Top Model, we call them Cycles & not seasons!
And without further ado, I will introduce the Four Four. Rich Juzwiak is a pop culture genius. His posts about Project Runway, ANTM, Being Bobby Brown, B-Movies, et al; have been hilarious. He’s so good he got tapped by VH1 to post the Celebreality blog. I totally have his involvement to thank for my watching of not only “I Love New York”, but also “Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School.” These shows encapsulate every thing I think is wrong with America, and yet I cannot stop watching them! But, Rich also has great posts about obscure & creepy documentaries, brilliantly bad movies, and pop music. Plus, he posts good pictures of his cat Winston:

As a blogger, I am in complete & utter awe of the Fug Yourself girls. (I do not want to make a thing of dropping f-bombs on the Big Daddy but, for those who do not know, Fug=Fucking Ugly.) This site consistently cracks my shit up. Maybe it’s the preciously perfect references to the Aaron Spelling genre of TV, or maybe it’s the great writing. Whatever it is, I LOVE it. Their posts are so clever & funny, I couldn’t pick one to link y’all to. You’ll just have to go on your own. Have fun!
On the same fashion tip is The Manolo. Every girl that’s lived in the Sex & The City era knows of Manolo Blahnik:

“The Manolo” however, is truly a wonderful & unique creation. I dearly love shoes. Unfortunately, due to an inherited bunion and a perpetually depleted bank account, I can never rock the Blahniks. But, I can ogle them all I want through this wonderful blog. A great new feature is: “Whose shoes Wednesdays?” I love to try and figure out the answer. It’s so totally fun and makes Wednesdays even better.
The last pop culture-y blog I’m going to talk about has to do with a recent obsession in my life: BTVS. Casey & I have several friends who had always known we would love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We never listened. When Casey’s sister Jill watched the whole series and knew we would love it, we didn’t listen. When our dear friend Sean Swaggerty encourged us to listen, we only made fun of his framed Buffy poster:

It took the Julie/Julia Project‘s several inadvertent Buffy plugs that made me really want to give it a try. That, and Firefly. I fell in LOVE with Firefly. So, the hubby & I put the first season on Netflix. The rest, my friends, is history. We now own the entire series, are currently watching it for the 4th time, and have been to a Buffy sing-a-long. As obsessed as we may seem, our dear friend Aly, takes the cake! Not only does she post wonderful podcasts with an incredible following & is a fantastic costume designer; but she also makes fantastic Buffy action figures:

Her talent & supreme craftiness is to die for. So not fair. Although, later tonight I might make a Buffy character on our Tiger Woods golf game. So there! Whose the ultimate nerd now?!?!?
This is finally it. I made it through my blogspots spots. Of course there will be the occaisional posts about other blogs. But mostly, from now on, it will just be me, posting about shit I want to talk about. Just DEAL with that fools! (love you guys. cheers.)

I love your blog! I also enjoy Buffy. I wish I would have watched it when it was on TV regularly.
