Lucky Numbers…

Let’s start with the number 6, as in Sixx Design.  Then we have to add in the number 7, as in SEVEN children.  Finally, we get to John Lennon’s favorite number, the number 9.  And, more specifically, Bravo‘s wonderful design show, 9 by Design.

Novogratz Family-Michael Weschler for New York Times

Those who know me, know I am sucker for anything shown on Bravo, from those silly Real Housewives to Top Design (the latter mostly because I adore Jonathan Adler, Todd Oldham & seeing what the cukoo-crazy Kelly Wearstler will wear:

rather than it actually being a good show, which I think it isn’t!)

But, Bravo hit the mark for me with their study in numbers, 9 by Design.  I love the dynamic of self-taught designers Bob & Cortney Novogratz navigating the still-glum New York real estate market with their 7! children in tow.  Not only are they fun to watch as a family, but their eclectic design sensibilities are exactly my cup of tea.

I am a huge fan of their mixing vintage with modern, and I am crazy for that menorah in the corner.  I am also a huge fan of that giant Ann Carrington piece in the lobby of the Bungalow Hotel.  I can only hope Bravo brings this back!!!

European Flea Market-Jayson Home & Garden

I had such a wonderful time at the preview for the Jayson Home & Garden European Flea Market.  I would like to extend my thanks to the wonderful folks at Jayson Home, as well as a personal thank you to Abbe, who sent me the invitation.  Thanks Abbe!

This is the tent where most of the Flea items were found.  Isn’t it pretty?  I can’t tell you how nice it was to be outside looking at gorgeous furniture & not freezing to death.  Spring has FINALLY sprung in Chicago.

One thing the European Flea was definitely not lacking in, chairs:

There were also a lot of pretty little things that I adored:

I MUST have those bookends & those lovely suitcases. The whole place was packed full of beauty:

And there was even a monkey!

All in all, I could’ve spent days wondering through the market & the store itself. There are just too many treasures to see.  If you are in the Chicagoland area this weekend, make sure you visit this fantastic market. Have a great weekend!

Favorite Color Combo

I’ve mentioned before that I love turquoise, aqua, or even baby blue paired with red.  I think Jayson Home & Garden would be a great place to find items in my favorite colors:

More of my picks after the jump.

Orange You Glad I Didn’t Say Banana?

I am so sorry for my absence.  I hope you all missed me bunches!  I’ve been enjoying the color-themed posts & I thought today I would explore around the fantastic 2modernsite for orange goodies.  I adore the color orange and these Triton Laquer trays from notNeutral completely grabbed my attention:

Pillow Talk…..& More

I’m on the fence about throw pillows.  I think people have a tendency to use too many & it makes things look cluttered.  Have you seen beds where half the bed is covered in like thirty different kinds of pillows?  I don’t like that at all.  Too much work to get into bed for me.  I do however, like one or two show stopping pillows.  I am seriously in love with the pillows I found exploring around the Michele Varian online shop:

Michele Varion-UltraSuede Heron

Michele Varion-Suzani Floral

Michele Varion-Parasol

Michele Varion-Fern

I think this one is my FAVORITE:

If I had that pretty pillow, I would be sincerely tempted to set it on this chair:

Beatrice Chair-Jayson Home & Garden

That’s assuming I could afford said chair from Jayson Home & Garden!  Oh well.  I found a lot of other cute things from Michele Varian.  You can see them after the jump! (more…)
