We’ve Got to Get Ourselves Back to the Garden…

Of course, I mean my favorite store in the world: Jayson Home & Garden!!!  I stopped by my beloved shop with my visiting Mom & my husband in tow & both were amazed by all the beautiful things.  Here’s just a sample of my favorites:

Amalfi Sofa

Phillipe Dining Table

Faulkner Chest

That Faulkner chest is astonishing in person.  It has the lovely, faded shimmer of a formerly gleaming piece of furniture that has seen many days & could tell a roaring story. I love pieces like that!   (more…)

European Flea Market-Jayson Home & Garden

I had such a wonderful time at the preview for the Jayson Home & Garden European Flea Market.  I would like to extend my thanks to the wonderful folks at Jayson Home, as well as a personal thank you to Abbe, who sent me the invitation.  Thanks Abbe!

This is the tent where most of the Flea items were found.  Isn’t it pretty?  I can’t tell you how nice it was to be outside looking at gorgeous furniture & not freezing to death.  Spring has FINALLY sprung in Chicago.

One thing the European Flea was definitely not lacking in, chairs:

There were also a lot of pretty little things that I adored:

I MUST have those bookends & those lovely suitcases. The whole place was packed full of beauty:

And there was even a monkey!

All in all, I could’ve spent days wondering through the market & the store itself. There are just too many treasures to see.  If you are in the Chicagoland area this weekend, make sure you visit this fantastic market. Have a great weekend!

Let’s Shed Some Light on the Subject…

With these amazing lamps I found at Jayson Home & Garden (which is where I will be tonight previewing their new European Flea Market Collection).  I am bringing my camera & will post all about it next week!  Anyway, to the lamps:

If I had a cabin in the mountains of Wyoming, this would be in my den.  I know it’s a little disturbing for some folks, but growing up with people who had whole walls of dead animals on their walls makes me kind of love it!

I also love this photographer’s lamp.  This would be great as a pair on bedside tables.  More of my favorites after the jump:

Favorite Color Combo

I’ve mentioned before that I love turquoise, aqua, or even baby blue paired with red.  I think Jayson Home & Garden would be a great place to find items in my favorite colors:

More of my picks after the jump.

Orange You Glad I Didn’t Say Banana?

I am so sorry for my absence.  I hope you all missed me bunches!  I’ve been enjoying the color-themed posts & I thought today I would explore around the fantastic 2modernsite for orange goodies.  I adore the color orange and these Triton Laquer trays from notNeutral completely grabbed my attention:

Finding What Inspires

Since we finally purchased a new camera a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been trying to remember to take pictures of the little things that I get a kick out of.  I’ve always looked for the little pretty “moments” or “poems” as my girl Anne of Green Gables would say.  Here are a few of my favorite recent little finds:

Ironwork at Ogilvie Station

Pan-Ogilvie Station

These two photos were taken at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago.  I wish the bottom part of the Pan piece was a little less dark & didn’t have that annoying EXIT sign blocking it.  You would think people seeing THREE sets of revolving doors in front of them would get the point, but whatever.  Ever since reading Jitterbug Perfume, I’ve had a thing for Pan.  I think he’s my favorite Greek God.  At least he’d be fun to party with!  There’s ironwork like this scattered all over Chicago.  I think I sense a new Flickr group beginning!  I also see this as I walk to & from work:

My husband tells me this means that the pipes the sign is resting on are active & not that I should live everyday to its utmost potential.  Still, every time I walk by, I think of my favorite Guffman quote, “CORKY WE LOVE YOU!  WE WANT YOU TO LIVE!”  The final place I found inspiration:

Beer Pull Tabs-Wild Goose Chicago

Goose Island

What does this say about me?  Oh well.  We were eating lunch with my brother in an empty Wild Goose over the weekend & I couldn’t resist.  Here’s hoping you find what inspires you.

Shades of Grey…or Gray

When the bone-chilling deep freeze of January settles over Chicago, I usually find myself in a funk.  Because of this, the past week has been a rough one for me.  I’m trying not to let it spill over into the blog too much, but sometimes, it just can’t be helped.  Today at least I think I’m emerging out of the deep blues & beginning to dive into the hazy greys.  Or grays.  Here are some gorgeous grey goodies I found at the incomparable Jayson Home & Garden.

Vintage Grey Sideboard-Jayson Home & Garden

Dove Coral Pillow-Jayson Home & Garden

Antiqued Mercury Glass Urns-Jayson Home & Garden

St. Charles Lamp-Jayson Home & Garden

There’s more after the jump, including one of the sexiest & most masculine sideboards I’ve ever seen.
