Something to Inspire…

Sometimes, I feel absolutely uninspired. These are the days when I don’t want to watch any movie we have recorded on the DVR, or even any we own on DVD. These are the days when nothing can be found to watch on TV, & even my favorite blogs can’t provoke me to write anything. Today, my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe even failed me as the cookies turned out all flat and brown rather than lumpy & perfect. But, I managed to find inspiration from this:
Maira Kalman is a tremendous artist. I discovered her through her wonderful New York Times blog. She posted once a month for a year & it is a tremendous piece of work. Her special way of noticing the little things in life, is something I try & strive for everyday. I love her little drawings of ordinary life moments:

As my last name is Pentland, I wondered if this could be a distant relative? Could I be a Lady of something? It would be nice to be a Lady and eat these in a beautiful Parisian Cafe:
Instead, I guess I’ll just be regular Gwen Pentland & eat my flat chocolate chip cookies in my reasonably clean Chicago apartment. Right now, that doesn’t seem like such a bad thing to be. Before I go, I’ll leave you with one more of my Maira Kalman favorites:
