Afternoon With Etsy-Episode 5
Sorry about the delay between posts. I had to serve my Jury duty on a very upsetting murder trial & find I am still affected by what happened. So, to alleviate my despondency, I think an Afternoon With Etsy is in order! Nothing lifts my spirits like fresh flowers; so today I bring a bouquet of floral-themed treasures. I’ll begin with an Etsy shop that’s received lots of press: Alicia Bock Photography.

These beautiful images from Alicia Bock’s “Through The Viewfinder” series are made from a unique technique which “combines an Argus 75 viewfinder camera and her digital camera to create a soft, vintage feeling photograph.” I think they are simply lovely:

For a different floral product, the beautiful pendants from The Caught Red Handed Etsy shop are stunning pieces of work:

That’s My Charm shop also had some fantastic & unique pendants made from Resin:

I especially loved this with the black flowers:

I fell head over heels in love with the Simply Modern Etsy shop:

The colors! The patterns! I just can’t get over these glorious prints:

Also, I loved the print collection with one of my favorite color combinations of all time:

I ADORE red, white & turquoise together! If nothing else can cheer me up, that sure can. I hope everyone enjoyed my return to regular blogging. Have a beautiful day!

This Made Me Laugh…
Tea for the Tillerman (Corky’s Song)
A little video I found featuring one of my favorite characters of all time: CORKY!!!! Also, it features a great Cat Stevens song. Jury duty is going to be consuming all my time, so I hope you enjoy the silly videos that I will probably resort to posting most of this week!

The Trials & Tribulations Of Big Daddy Seashell

I have been selected for jury duty for the Cook County Circuit Court. Actually, I don’t mind; it’s my first time & I feel like I’m contributing to society. When they announced that I was on the Jury, I felt a strange rush of All-American pride. Weird huh? But, this means my posting might be somewhat infrequent going forward. I hope I will still be able to post daily next week, but if I can’t I hope you’ll still visit. Have a great weekend!!!!

Afternoon With Etsy-Episode 4
Today was all about trees. I think I must have been a druid in a former life, because I feel a deep, spiritual connection to trees. I love seeing the leaves and branches tossing gently in a breeze, or the leafless stark branches covered in thick snow. I love looking at leaves in the fall on the ground in their blazing reds, oranges, or yellows; or studying them in the summer in all their green glory. Here were some of my favorites from my tree search:

These colorful images are the work of the JellyBeans Etsy Shop. This shop is full of lovely artwork, but the tree images stuck with me:

I loved the fun prints at the Tummy Ache Etsy Shop:

Also lovely was the work from the Tsk Tsk shop:

Beautiful notecards were found at RunAliceRun:

But, I really fell in love with these unique magnets made from dominoes:

I couldn’t have an Etsy tree post without mentioning my favorite tree: Gingko! Finally, it’s time to show the fantastic Gingko products from Sumiko’s shop:

This gorgeous pendant features a sapphire dewdrop. So pretty!

I love the yellow.

These chopstick rests are almost too pretty to use. But, I love them all the same!
Finally, no Afternoon With Etsy would be complete without the work of the amazing John W. Golden:

His shop is having a BOGO (Buy One Get One) Sale to celebrate his 1st EtsyVary. Please visit & buy lots of wonderful art!!! Have a great day.

Refreshing Lemon Bamboo….
I would like to start a new, exciting feature on the Big Daddy. Once every two months, I am going to focus on a Chicago-based design shop. Today I am showcasing a global import shop: Lemon Bamboo. I actually met William Blake, the proprietor of this fine online destination, at the Design*Sponge meet-up in April 2006. There are a wide variety of products to choose from:

There is also a lovely selection of Thai Silk Scarves:

Cute handbags:

And stunning silver jewelry:

Many of these products were handcrafted by the Hilltribes of northern Thailand & Laos. These pieces are one-of-a-kind & help support the economies of the Hilltribes. So Lemon Bamboo, we salute you!
